Justin Bieber murder plot phone calls released

A convicted murderer's terrifying phone call to a hit man -- in which he describes a plot to murder and castrate Justin Bieber and his bodyguard -- has been released.

The phone call -- obtained by KOAT 7 News in Albuquerque, NM -- was placed from a Las Cruces prison last November by Dana Martin, who's currently serving two life sentences for raping and killing a 15-year-old girl.

Martin -- reportedly obsessed with Justin Bieber -- is the first voice on the tape. The person he's calling is Tanner Ruane, the man who's accused of conspiring to carry out the Bieber castration since Martin was behind bars.

Ruane is the nephew of a former Las Cruces inmate named Mark Staake, whom Martin had also allegedly recruited to help carry out the murder following Staake's release last fall.

In the clips released by KOAT, Martin tells Ruane ... "[Mark's] going to kill the pit bulls and you're going to castrate them."

According to police, "pit bulls" was the code word for Bieber and his bodyguard.

In the call, Ruane mentions the "hedge clippers" he was planning to use to carry out the deed.

Martin also describes how to perform the murders using his signature paisley tie -- "Tie it really really tight. Knot it in the front once, really tight, put it in a knot. That cuts off the oxygen, and then tie it in the back again, really tight. That seals the deal."

As we reported, the murders were supposed to go down in New York City soon after this telephone call took place ... while Bieber was in town performing at MSG. Ruane and Staake were subsequently intercepted by police before anything happened.

MANILA (Updated) -- Canadian pop star Justin Bieber should publicly apologize to Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao for mocking the Filipino boxer on photo-sharing application, Instagram, following the latter's knockout loss recently to his Mexican archrival, lawmakers said Monday.

Representatives Carol Jayne Lopez (Yacap party-list), Seth Jalosjos (Zamboanga del Norte), Amado Bagatsing (Manila), Antonio Alvarez (Palawan), Mark Aeron Sambar (PBA party-list), Alfredo Garbin Jr. (Ako Bicol), and Isidro Lico (Ating Koop party-list) filed House Resolution 2962 to demand public apology from Bieber.

"Mr. Bieber should have known that the Hon. Pacquiao has reached his stature as such as a result of sheer hardwork, determination, and firm belief in God, and despite such stature best exemplifies humility and grace even despite defeat," the lawmakers said.

"Should he refuse to do so, Mr. Justin Bieber be declared persona non grata and thus should not be allowed to enter the country at any time in the future," the resolution stated.

Pacquiao was knocked out by Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez in the sixth round of their fourth encounter in Las Vegas, Nevada, last December 9 (Manila time). An overhand right from Marquez sent the Filipino pound-for-pound king face first to the canvas.

In his Instagram account, Bieber posted a few memes of Pacquiao after Marquez had knocked him out.

One picture shows a photoshopped image of the Disney character Simba leaning over Pacquiao and captioned "Dad wake up." Another photo shows Pacquiao's body before hitting the floor alongside the late singer Michael Jackson with the caption "Pacquiao doing the lean with MJ. Classic moment."

Bieber is a fan of American boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr., also a Pacquiao critic.

"He has nothing to gain fighting Pacquiao. Floyd has never in his professional career lost a fight and Pacquiao lost his two fights," Bieber said.

"As his colleagues in this august body, it is incumbent upon us to demand an apology from Mr. Justin Bieber lest, we declare him persona non grata in this country," the resolution read.

The Canadian singer has staged a concert in the Philippines once in May of this year.

An imprisoned U.S. man whose infatuation with Canadian singer Justin Bieber included a tattoo of the pop star on his leg has told investigators in New Mexico he hatched a plot to kill him.

Documents in a New Mexico court say Dana Martin, a convicted killer, told investigators he persuaded a man he met in prison and the man's nephew to kill the pop superstar, as well as Bieber’s bodyguard and two others not connected to the pop star.

Martin told investigators that Mark Staake and Tanner Ruane travelled east across the U.S., planning to be near a Bieber concert in New York City.

Instead, the men missed a turn and crossed into Canada from Vermont.

Staake was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Ruane was arrested later.

The two men face multiple charges stemming for the alleged plot.

"Through follow-up investigation it was discovered that Justin Bieber may have also been a target of the murder plot," wrote Lt. Robert McDonald in an emailed statement to the Associated Press.

According to an affidavit for an arrest warrant, Martin, 45, wanted all four victims, including Bieber, strangled with a paisley tie, which is similar to how Martin had killed his victims.

The affidavit suggests the first two victims were to be castrated — with a total of $2,500 US paid to Staake per testicle.

However, it does not say the third victim, believed to be Bieber, was to be castrated, as was previously reported.

Martin requested the two men kill four people in two separate attacks, according to the affidavit. According to the document, the ultimate target was a victim referred to as "J.B," whose bodyguard "M.B." would have to be killed first.

Martin told investigators he wanted J.B. killed because he "has a measure of fame" and Martin had "become infatuated" with him.

Martin has a tattoo of J.B. on his leg and attempted to contact him several times, but became upset when J.B. did not respond, the affidavit says.

The affidavit said this perceived slight and Martin's belief he was a nobody in prison led him to start plotting to kidnap and murder J.B.

Martin told investigators "he was seeking a measure of notoriety so that there would be people outside of prison who would know who he ... was."

The Canadian singer's management, asked to comment on the reports, released a statement saying only that they take "every precaution to protect and ensure the safety of Justin [Bieber] and his fans."

Police in Vermont originally arrested Staake on Nov. 19 for violating probation. He is also wanted in New Mexico on two counts of conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree and two counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, Vermont police told CBC News.

Staake and Ruane "are being investigated for their part in the criminal conspiracy to locate and murder two individuals in Vermont," according to the Vermont police statement.

No killings planned in the alleged plot were committed. Instead, Martin revealed the plots to police before Staake and Ruane could act.

Staake was arrested in the Vermont area and Ruane in New York, where Bieber gave a concert on Nov. 28.

New York Times: He’s Their Boy, Striving to Be His Own Man

Every minute, on the minute, they yelled. On Wednesday night the screen high above the Madison Square Garden stage was counting down the time until Justin Bieber, the post-boy, not-quite-man pop star, would take the stage. Each time the clock counted down past a “:00,” out came the shrieks: real throaty noises, crescendoing to a squeal and then retreating. The tiny kids, the preteens, the teenagers, even a few of the moms — they all did it. That’s the ritual, and it always has been.

It’s also the sound of security for a teen idol, but there are prices to pay for all that eardrum assault. They love you, but you have to stay at the center. They’ll go along with you, so long as you don’t stray too far. You’re bigger than the machine, but the machine still powers you.

Would those screams be as loud for a young singer with a pretty voice who wanted to make, say, a different sort of music? One less digital and speedy, one with more tenderness? Less pop, more R&B? Less flash, more caress?

Mr. Bieber was testing limits in various ways during this stop of the “Believe Tour” — named for his most recent album (on RBMG/Island) — which toggled between high-definition popstravaganza and sneaky intimacy. Without tipping his hand too much to the girls in the usual homemade T-shirts and the official Bieber basketball jerseys with “Swaggy” across the chest, Mr. Bieber was checking to see how little he could get away with.

When his band held back, and his dancers were taking it easy or offstage replenishing electrolytes, Mr. Bieber was at his most comfortable. Three songs in, he sang the beautiful, light ballad “Catching Feelings,” showing off the flexibility in his voice.

Later he strapped into a riser that carried him above the crowd while he sang “Be Alright.” On songs like “She Don’t Like the Lights” and “Die in Your Arms,” he placed himself in the Michael Jackson lineage, emphasizing his voice’s tenderness.

He seemed much happier when bending and remaking one of his songs by adding in filigree and vocal whorls than when lip-syncing and playing the role of a dance machine on his more up-tempo — and generally less successful — songs.

There’s a difference between enjoying being the person who can render a crowd breathless with your dance moves and enjoying the actual moves. Mr. Bieber is the first camp all the way. He’s not a natural dancer: there’s no liquidity to his body, which often moves in tight, contracted sequences that are faded copies of the routines his background team is executing.

Dancing is for stars with big stage shows. It’s part of the playbook. But Mr. Bieber is eager to show that he’s not just one of the most successful artists of the last few years, he that he can actually do things too. After the thumping “Beauty and a Beat” he appeared at the top of the multitiered stage behind a drum kit, which he played for a bit. (This is one of his regular shticks; he also showed an old home video of himself drumming when he was still wee.) One of several video interludes documented the 2011 haircut that proved that he was, in fact, more than just a haircut.

Without doubt he is still a kid, spilling water on his D.J. and boasting, “I’m the best on tour at Ping-Pong.” He’s taken to wearing drop-crotch pants — likely a decision he’ll look back on with some revulsion, though, for now, he exulted, “I never thought I’d be onstage with these cool leather pants.”

Acting out is part of Mr. Bieber’s charm. He’s a global child star — he turned 18 this year — who’s already planning for the sex symbol phase of his career. Depending which tabloid you believe, he either recently split from his longtime girlfriend, the former Disney star Selena Gomez, or has just reconnected with her. Since last year he’s noticeably bulked up. He just got an owl tattoo on his left forearm. During the encore, a pair of bras landed onstage and he was unfazed.

Could he take a few moments to be a man, please? At one point, in a nod to modern eroticism, he turned a video camera he’d been using to record the crowd on himself, giving it a cold stare as he lifted his T-shirt to show off the Polo Ralph Lauren logo on his underwear.

Just before he closed the show playing the overwrought anthem “Believe” at a white piano, he sang a bit of “Thinkin Bout You,” by Frank Ocean, one of this year’s most grown-up R&B songs. Mr. Bieber has grown-up taste. When he introduced his band, the bass player tossed off the signature lick from Tyga’s “Rack City,” one of this year’s strip-club anthems, while Mr. Bieber rapped along (the clean version, naturally). Mr. Bieber has really grown-up taste.

And soon he’ll be making grown-up decisions, something he signaled late in the show by coming out onstage shirtless, under a jacket, because that’s something you can do when you get older. He was singing “As Long as You Love Me,” from the most recent album. It starts out slick, with faint touches of dubstep — a nod to the dance-pop of the day. But it’s one of Mr. Bieber’s most restrained and sweetest vocal performances, and here he sang the end of it a cappella, bringing the room to a hush.

It would have sounded just as good in a space half the size. Or a tenth.

Justin Bieber pulled out all the stops as his Believe tour rumbled into one of the most famous music venues in the world, the star playing in New York's Madison Square Garden. It's been a topsy-turvy few weeks for the teenager, with his split from Selena Gomez initially taking the headlines, before the pair apparently got back together, with various sightings of them in restaurants and showing displays of PDA. He certainly had a big smile on his face as he played to a sold-out MSG last night (November 28).

Bieber powered through a set that spanned both his multi-million selling albums, as well as getting well into his sexy dance moves. It was just as well that the star was on top of his game, given the quality of the support acts. Carly Rae Jepsen, owner of one of the catchiest song released this year in 'Call Me Maybe', opened up the show, with fast-rising boy group The Wanted also putting on an impressive show before the main event. There was no doubt it was Bieber's night though, the star keeping the audience eating out the palm of his hand throughout, graceful and effortless in comparison to the scenes of a couple of months ago where he struggled through a bout of illness.

There's plenty more for Bieber to get through before he can enjoy his Christmas turkey; the star is gigging right up until December 12 whrere he'll play in Atlanta. He's far from done even though, playing the rest of North American in January and February before crossing over for a mammoth tour of Europe. You can't say that he doesn't work hard for his cents.

After his sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Wednesday, the 18-year-old took his 20-year-old love to the Times Square branch of cheap restaurant Dave and Buster's.

The American arcade/restaurant chain greeted the pair at around midnight and apparently they were "arm in arm."

A source told Us Weekly that they were ready to "play a bunch of games" that included car-racing game Daytona and Super Shot.

They also rode the venue's indoor roller coaster.

The source said: "They were arm in arm the whole time, and even stole a kiss here and there. They definitely seemed happy and in love and had a great time."

Earlier in the evening, Selena was allegedly "transfixed" as she gazed at her on-off love from the side of the stage. Bieber is still in love with the Disney star, despite their ups and downs.

An insider said: "He was desperate to get back together with her. Selena has been worried, but she still loves him."

Mia was among the fans who met Bieber prior to his concert at the Scotiabank Place in Kanata Friday.

Heather Pruder said the meeting with Bieber was everything her five-year-old daughter had expected it to be.

“He's very polite. Mia was the last person they brought into the meet and greet and as soon as he saw her his whole demeanour just completely softened,” she said.

“I think he wanted to have a few more minutes with her but his schedule didn't dictate it,” she said.

Mia Pruder is being treated for muscular dystrophy and mitochondrial depletion syndrome. Since late February, Mia has undergone numerous surgeries, life-threatening situations and a full tracheotomy due to her condition.

She was the focus of a Facebook campaign, Biebs for Mia, aimed at getting her a meeting with Bieber.

In June Mia received a video message from Bieber and her mother says she seeks out anything Bieber-related she can find on the Internet.

“She knows how to Google him.”

The family knew they had tickets for the show in April but it was not until last Wednesday that they found out for sure that they would meet Bieber in person.

In addition to meeting the singer, the family enjoyed VIP treatment at the concert.

“She absolutely loved the concert,” Heather Pruder said.

“We were treated really, really well.”

Originally they had seats right in front of the stage platform.

But show organizers decided the seats were not safe for Mia, so the family was moved to front row centre before the curtain went up.

“The show was delayed because of our movement,” Heather Pruder said.
